ALBA Berlin edges ASVEL to claim first road victory since November

ALBA Berlin have experienced its first road victory in EuroLeague since November as they downed ASVEL 80-82 in Astroballe Thursday night.

ALBA improved to 9-16 and surpassed ASVEL into 14th place. ASVEL fell to 9-17. The German club was led by Jaleen Smith, who had 16 points.

Both remained close for most of the game, before the Berliners took an 72-80 lead with one minute remaining in the regulation. ASVEL made a final run to cut the lead to 80-81 with 5.9 seconds left.

Luke Sikma went to the line and made one free throw. ASVEL called timeout and Jones tried to win the game, but Jaleen Smith blocked his shot at the buzzer.

MVP: Jaleen Smith was the leading scorer for ALBA with 16 points. He also had five rebounds, one steal, one assist and the winning block.

Key of the game: ALBA shot 46 percent from deep, while they had 14 more rebounds than ASVEL (25-39).

ALBA will face Zalgiris at home next week. ASVEL will return on the road, playing against UNICS away from home.
