NBA Top Stories: Minnesota Timberwolves bounce back in memorable fashion against Miami

Minnesota Timberwolves were coming off a tough defeat at the hands of one of the worst teams in the league.

However, they bounced back Saturday night winning the best team in the East to add their seventh win in the last eight games.

After several miserable seasons since Jimmy Butler left the team, Minnesota seems ready to return to the postseason.

The Timberwolves returned from a 12-point deficit at halftime and made a 58-37 run in the last two quarters to secure a 113-104 win over Miami.

Minnesota’s defense was on point in the third and fourth period as the Wolves recovered from a 42-point quarter from Miami to claim the victory.

Barring an out of normal collapse, Minnesota will finish with a winning record for the second time in the last 17 seasons.

They sit at 39-30 record which ranks them seventh in the West with 13 games remaining for the regular season.

”Their speed and quickness, and their ability to play in the passing lanes, make them very disruptive, and they were disruptive at key times in the second half,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said about the Timberwolves.

In the last eight games, the Timberwolves rank fifth in opponents per game with their defense allowing 107.5. They are also Top-10 in Def Rtg allowing 109,6 points per 100 possessions during that stint.

The Timberwolves have made huge strides on the offensive end this season. They are the second-best offense in the league putting up 114.6 points per. They are also seventh in Off Rtg scoring 112.7 points, while in the last 8-game span they’re obliterating opponents scoring 122.2 points per 100 possessions for a net rating of a plus-18.2.

Minnesota has been a great all-around offense in the latest game. Last night, against Miami, they had eight players in double digits, with Jaylen Nowell having a team-high 16 points.

The Wolves will hope to continue adding to their momentum against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday. The biggest test for them will start next Saturday, when a seven-game stretch against teams over .500 will begin for them.
