Jonas Valanciunas, Domantas Sabonis will play for Lithuania in 2022 EuroBasket

Jonas Valanciunas and Domantas Sabonis will be in the roster of Lithuania for the 2022 EuroBasket.

The head coach of the Lithuanian national team, Kazys Maksvytis, confirmed the news in a recent interview with Basketnews.

“Both Domas [Sabonis] and Jonas [Valanciunas] have given me a confirmation that they’re going to play in the 2022 EuroBasket.

I think that we’ll have three centers for sure. I’ve talked to all of them, Donatas Motiejunas as well, maybe a little bit less with Arturas Gudaitis. Of course, it’s a bit of a pain to make everybody happy and have a winning team at the same time, but it’s a pleasant pain.

The most important thing is that they remain healthy and ready to play. There might be times when we play with two centers at the same time,” Maksvytis said.

The two NBA stars will headline the roster of Lithuania, which aims to return to the top of Europe. The Lithuanians will face Germany, France, Hungary, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in Group B.

The 2022 EuroBasket will take place in September (1-18). Four cities (Cologne, Milano, Prague and Tbilisi) will host the group stage. The knockout stage will be played at Marcedes Benz Arena in Berlin.
