Joel Embiid on Ben Simmons: “I never said ‘get him out of there'”

Joel Embiid attempted to clarify his stance on the trade of Ben Simmons to the Brooklyn Nets.

Embiid, the superstar of the Philadelphia 76ers, cleared the air on whether he played a part in the trade.

“You expressed your dismay with the situation. You expressed like “get him out of here then,” like, you expressed all of that,” Draymond Green told Embiid during The Draymond Green Show.

“I never said that, to ‘get him out of there.’ I just didn’t understand what was going on honestly. I didn’t understand, like, what happened and what led up to that whole situation. To this day, I don’t understand,” the star big man told Green.

Joel Embiid noted he played no part in the trade and revealed he had no problems with Simmons. The latter didn’t play a single game with the Sixers this season, because of his dispute with Philadelphia front office.

Embiid and Simmons spent 5.5 years together (2016-2022), but failed to lead Philadephia to the title.

Back on February 10, Simmons joined the Nets, along with Seth Curry, Andre Drummond and draft picks. In exchange, the Sixers got James Harden and Paul Millsap.

Ben Simmons has yet to make his debut with Brooklyn, but the team is ‘very hopeful’ this will happen in the next two or three weeks. On the other hand, Joel Embiid and the Sixers are fighting for a top four spot in the East and the home-court advantage.

Philadelphia is currently second on the table, with a 42-26 record. They are just three games behind conference leaders Miami Heat (46-24).
