Mike Krzyzewski makes NCAA history after reaching 2022 Final Four

Mike Krzyzewski made NCAA history on Saturday night, after leading Duke to the 2022 Final Four.

The legendary head coach qualified for his 13th Final Four and set a new NCAA record. Coach Krzyzewski has now passed Hall of Famer and former UCLA head coach John Wooden and holds the record for most Final Four appearances.

“It’s an honor. Coach Wooden, if he kept coaching, would probably have 24. But it’s a heck of a thing.

We’ve won a lot in the tournament, and we’ve won a lot of games, but Final Fours are big, obviously, then national championships. That’s what you put banners up for,” the head coach of Duke said, via ESPN.

In his 47th and final season as head coach, Mike Krzyzewski will aim to retire as a champion. If Duke emerges victorious in the Final Four, Coach K will have won his sixth NCAA title.

Mike Krzyzewski has won a total of five national championships in his legendary career (1991, 1922, 2001, 2010, and 2015).

Following its 78-69 win over Arkansas on Saturday, Duke clinched its place in the Final Four and will now face the winner of the game between No. 15 seed Saint Peter’s and No. 8 seed North Carolina.

In the second semifinal, Villanova Wildcats will take on the winner of the game between No. 1 seed Kansas Jayhawks and No.10 seed Miami Hurricanes.
