Sergio Rodriguez could be available for limited minutes in Efes-Milan Game 3

Sergio Rodriguez will be under minutes restriction in Game 3 of the EuroLeague playoffs vs Efes, head coach Ettore Messina revealed Monday. Rodriguez sprained his ankle in Milan’s Game 2 victory.

The Italian side will miss Malcolm Delaney, Nicolo Melli, Trey Kell, and Konstantinos Mitoglou in Game 3 and Game 4. Rodriguez made the trip to Istanbul along with the rest of the team.

Melli has suffered an injury to the medial twin of his right leg and he will be re-evaluated in three weeks. Delaney will miss the rest of the series, and he will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

“Our situation is well known. As far as injured players, we can only hope to extract some minutes from Sergio Rodriguez.

Other than that, we’ll try to control the rebounds and their great shooters, well aware that this game is realistically an extremely difficult one,” Messina said.

The Italian side saw Luigi Datome coming back in action in the domestic level this past weekend. Milan is coming off a win in Game 2 to tie the quarter-final series at 1-1.

“We know it will be a very difficult game, but we hope to recover the physical and mental energy to fight exactly as we did in Game 2,” Datome said Monday.

“We are aware of the many heavy absences that we have, but in this type of games everyone will be ready to do everything we can to overcome the difficulties.”
