Draymond Green named Boston Celtics’ defense as key to their first NBA Finals appearance since 2010. The star big man of the Golden State Warriors said the Celtics wouldn’t have made a championship run if it wasn’t for their defense.

In the first three games of the NBA Finals, Boston has conceded an average of 105 points. In Game 3, they allowed Golden State to score just 100 points and earned the win (100-116) to grab a 2-1 series lead.

“They’re a great defensive team. We knew that coming in. They pride themselves on that
end. That’s what changed their season this season. I think they started 11-and-something I saw. What changed their season is their defensive presence.

They’re going to make things tough. That’s why they’re in the NBA Finals. That’s why we’re in the NBA Finals. They’re a very physical team. They have a lot of size, a lot of bulk. They try to muddy the game up.

I think it’s important that we continue to move the ball, move bodies, not just standing still where they can just muck the game up, use their hands and chuck guys.

If you’re moving, ball movement, guys are moving without the ball, then it’s a lot tougher to grab and chuck and hold and all of those things.

You don’t allow them to play so much to their strengths as we did last night,” Draymond Green told media, including Hedgeout.net, on Thursday.

Draymond Green and the Warriors haven’t scored more than 108 points in any of the first three games in the series. In Game 4 on Friday, they will seek to increase their offensive productivity to even the series and re-claim the home-court advantage.
