Virtus Bologna ties LBA Finals series vs Milan

Tornike Shengelia scored 22 points, and Virtus Bologna beat Olimpia Milan 75-68 at home to tie the Italian League Finals at 1-1. Shengelia also had eight rebounds and four assists in a back-and-forth battle.

Virtus was able to create some separation in the fourth quarter after making an 8-2 run to take a 69-61 advantage with 2:23 remaining for the end of the game. Milan cut that deficit to 71 – 66 with one minute remaining, but the home side held off their opponents.

Shengelia made a crucial basket and Kyle Weems added two free throws to close out the game as Bologna bounced back from a 62-66 defeat in Game 1 of the series Wednesday night.

Mam Jaiteh finished with a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side, while veteran sharpshooter Marco Belinelli added 10 points. Davon Hall was the leading scorer for Milan with 16 points.

Sergio Rodriguez followed with 10 points and seven assists, while  Shavon Shields put up 15 points for the losing side. Game 3 of the series will take place in Milan on Sunday night.
