Shavon Shields scored 22, Nicolo Melli added 19 points, and Olimpia Milan took a 2-1 lead in the LBA finals with a 92-84 win over Virtus Bologna. The EuroLeague powerhouse bounced back from a 75-68 defeat to keep the home advantage.
After a close-fought battle in the first half (48-45), Milan took control of the game with a 30-23 advantage in the third quarter. Etorre Messina’s group took control and gained a 81-69 lead at the start of the fourth quarter.
Virtus never got closer than eight points in the fourth quarter and Olimpia won the game and regain the lead after losing the previous game. Jerain Grant finished the game with 14 points and Gigi Datome added 12 points.
Daniel Hackett scored 18 points along with 6 rebounds to lead the losing side. Marco Belinelli and Milos Teodosic registered 14 points respectively, and Tornike Shengelia added 10 points.
Game 4 of the Finals is Tuesday in Milan.
