Andrew Wiggins, Warriors rally past Celtics to take 3-2 series lead

Andrew Wiggins was impressive on both ends and handed the Golden State Warriors the victory over the Boston Celtics in Game 5 (94-104).

The All-Star forward went for 26 points in the contest, on 12/23 shooting. Four more players scored in double figures for the winners, with Klay Thompson having 21 (5/11 from beyond the arc). Stephen Curry added 16, but went 0/9 from the three-point line.

On the other hand, Jayson Tatum led all scorers with 27 points, on 10/20 shooting and 5/9 from beyond the arc. Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown posted 20 and 18 points, respectively.

The Warriors were in control in the first half and led by as many as 16. However, the Celtics came back in the third and used a 19-4 run to tie the game (55-55).

Boston outscored Golden State 24-35 in the third and was down by just one (74-75). Yet, Golden State took over in the fourth and outscored the visitors 20-29 to cruise to the victory.

The Warriors now lead the NBA Finals 3-2 and travel to Boston for Game 6 to close out the series and win the NBA championship.

For their part, the Celtics will play an elimination game for a third time in the 2022 playoffs. They aim to protect TD Garden and bring the series back to Chase Center for a Game 7.
