Milan overpowers Virtus to take 3-1 lead in LBA finals

Shavon Shields scored 21 points and Olimpia Milan defeated Virtus Bologna 77-62 to take a commanding 3-1 lead in the Lega Basket Finals. Milan needs one more win to return to the top of the Italian league after losing to Bologna last season.

Milan trailed 55-57 at the beginning of the fourth quarter, but, they made an impressive 22-5 run to close the game and beat Virtus for the third time in the series. Devon Hall finished with 14 points for the winning side.

Kyle Hines added 10 points and two blocks. Bologna went scoreless for six minutes in the fourth quarter, when Tornike Shengelia remained low in production, despite finishing the game with 21 points being the leading score of his team.

Mam Jaiteh had 12 points and eight rebounds. Bologna took a 16-24 lead in the first quarter, but, Milan bounced back to get ahead 40-34 at the half. Game 5 is scheduled for 16 June in Bologna.

The EuroLeague powerhouse need one more game to win the title, while Virtus will have a tough task ahead with three “must-win” games in the series.
