FC Barcelona head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius admitted Real Madrid was the better team in the ACB finals series, but deemed that the season was good for his team despite losing  the major titles in the domestic and the European level.

“I think it has been a good season. Perhaps we haven’t been able to finish it off, clearly,” Jasilevicius told the media after Barcelona’s Game 4 loss to Real (h/t Basketnews).

“For a club like Barca we always fight for titles but in Belgrade, it was a tough moment for us, and didn’t arrive in this playoff very fresh. We did our job to reach the final stage, and Madrid was better in the final.”

Madrid downed Barcelona in four games (3-1) in the ACB Finals as Edy Tavares dominated Game 4 with 25 points and 13 rebounds. The Barca’s bigs did not stand a stance against Tavares who finished the finals by winning the MVP award.

Fabien Causer was also a big factor with 17 points and the dagger late in the fourth quarter that put the game away for the home team. As for Barca, Saras’ squad performed below the expected level and the high expectations were set at the start of the season,

They ended winning only the Copa Del Rey as a team that was favored to win the ACB and the EuroLeague title. Barca missed the EuroLeague championship game after Real beat the Catalans in the semifinals.
