Jan Vesely announces departure from Fenerbahce

Jan Vesely took to social media and officially announced his decision to part ways with Fenerbahce after eight years.

The Czech center decided not to re-sign with the Turkish powerhouse after the expiration of his contract. As a result, he is now leaving the squad and is expected to join fellow EuroLeague powerhouse Barcelona.

Jan Vesely claimed multiple domestic titles with Fenerbahce as well as the 2017 EuroLeague championship.

For his part, Dimitris Itoudis, the new head coach of the club, also revealed Vesely’s intention to leave the team.

“I had a chance to talk with Jan Vesely. We all know what he means for Fenerbahce. I know what the club offered him and how it is willing to sacrifice for him, but it was a family decision for Jan.

His contribution, success and the things he brought to the club are not up for discussion,” Itoudis said during his official presentation.

Jan Vesely averaged 13.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.1 steals in the EuroLeague last season, with Fenerbahce missing the playoffs after eight years.
