Nic Batum is expected to decline his player option, worth $3.3M, and hit free agency. This is what Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports, noting that the veteran forward and the Los Angeles Clippers have mutual interest to agree to a new deal.
The French forward averaged 8.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.0 steals in 59 games last season and was a starter in 54 of them. The Clippers lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the play-in tournament and failed to reach the playoffs.
Last summer, Batum picked up his option and re-signed with the Clippers. Now, he is heading towards a third separate deal with the LA franchise.
Clippers F Nic Batum will decline his $3.3M player option and become a free agent, sources tell ESPN. There’s expected to be mutual interest with Clippers and Batum on reaching a new deal in July.
