The Los Angeles Lakers are willing to keep Stanley Johnson for another season, as they view him as a key role player.
Johnson signed with the 17-time NBA champions in December and appeared in 48 games (27 as a starter). He averaged 6.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists.
“The expectation around the NBA is the Los Angeles Lakers will exercise the $2.35 million team option on forward Stanley Johnson.
New coach Darvin Ham publicly stressed the importance of role players like Johnson. Johnson shot a career-high 46.6 percent with the Lakers,” Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reports.
With Darvin Ham as the new head coach, the franchise aims to return to title contention after a disappointing season that saw them miss the playoffs.
