The Los Angeles Lakers were expected to acquire a second-round pick and they came to an agreement with the Orlando Magic to buy No.35 ahead of the NBA Draft, the Lakers announced. The Lakers had to surrender a future second-round pick.
The LA franchise also gave up a second-rounder in 2028, when they have their own and the Wizards’. The Magic, who still have the Nos. 1 and 32 picks tonight, might like having such a distant asset.

The Cleveland Cavaliers added another draft pick Thursday, acquiring the No. 49 selection from the Sacramento Kings, the franchise announced. The Cavs sent the Kings the draft rights to Sasha Vezenkov and $1.75 million to the Kings.
The Cavs are a somewhat surprising pick buyer. They already had three selections (Nos. 14, 39 and 56). But another pick provides another opportunity to add to a trade package for a win-now contributor.
Los Angeles traded away their first-round pick to the New Orleans Pelicans in the 2019 Anthony Davis deal. The second-round pick ended up with the Wizards as part of that deal.
The Lakers added several pieces in the second round of the draft including Talen Horton-Tucker, who had been the 46th selection in the 2019 draft and Jordan Clarkson, who was the 46th pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.
