Stefano Tonut officially joins Milan on a two-year deal

Olimpia Milan announced the signing of guard Stefano Tonut for the next two years. Coming off a great season with Venezia, Tonut will bolster Milan’s backcourt.

“I’m so happy and excited to make a dream of mine come true and play for a top-level team, both in Italy and Europe, like Olimpia,” Tonut stated.

The 28-year-old guard averaged 9.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists through 17 appearances in EuroCup this past season for Umana Reyer Venice.

Raised in Trieste, he started his basketball journey by playing for the Azzurra local team. Eventually, he spent one year in Monfalcone.

He then moved to Trieste where he remained until 2015 when he was signed by Venezia. He spent seven seasons of his career helping the team win two LBA titles.

In 2021, he was named Italian league MVP as he averaged 16.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game, shooting 39.8 percent from three-point range.

During his last season in Venezia, he averaged 14.0 points per game along with 3.1 rebounds. He appeared in 51 games in the EuroCup during his career averaging 7.9 points.
