After Bayern Munich released him Thursday, Darrun Hilliard officially joined Maccabi Tel Aviv on a one-year deal, the Israeli giants announced Sunday.
The 29-year-old swingman also played for Baskonia and CSKA Moscow in his 4-year EuroLeague career, as well as stints in the NBA for the Pistons and Spurs.
“I’m very thankful to wear the Maccabi uniform and represent everything that comes with it”, Hilliard said on his statement.
“Many great players came to Tel Aviv with high expectations to win, and I hope my teammates and I can bring that same great passion and drive to be successful”.
The 38th pick of the 2015 draft came in Europe after playing scarcely through his first three years of his career in the NBA.
Baskonia was the first destination for the Villanova product, immediately become a centerpiece for the Basque team, scoring 9.4 points per game in 20.5 minutes.
He went on to play for CSKA Moscow next season having a steady rotational role contributed 10.6 points with 41.2% from deep in his first season.
Hilliard moved to German BBL and Bayern Munich next season, he put up the best season of his career in EuroLeague averaging 13.7 points.
The American guard is the third signing of the offseason for Maccabi, as the team already added Guy Pnini and Bonzie Colson.
