Gigi Datome to make return to Italy NT after three years

In the aftermath of the 71-90 loss to Slovenia in an exhibition game, the Italy NT head coach Gianmarco Pozzecco announced the 16-man roster he will use in the final game of the first phase FIBA World Cup qualifiers vs Netherlands.

In Pozzeco’s list, Gigi Datome is included after a three-year absence and several others veterans like Simone Fontecchio, Paul Biligha, Amedeo Tessitori, Giampaolo Ricci, Davide Alviti, Tommaso Baldasso and Alessandro Pajola.

Italy NT will have a busy summer with the second phase of the FIBA World Qualifiers in August and the start of the 2022 EuroBasket a few days later on September 2. Italy will be among the four hosts of the tournament.
