After an extensive search with several candidates, the Utah Jazz are close to finding their new head coach to replace Quin Snyder in Boston Celtics’ assistant Will Hardy, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Snyder stepped down after eight seasons in Utah. Hardy was the top assistant of the Celtics’ head coach Ime Udoka, who led Boston to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010.

Hardy in a similar path as Snyder started as a video coordinator with the Spurs in 2010, before being elevated to the role of assistant under Gregg Popovich. He was hired to Ime Udoka‘s coaching staff with the Celtics last summer.
Among other candidates being considered like the 2020 NBA champion with the Lakers Frank Vogel and former long-time coach of the Portland Trail Blazers Terry Stotts, who was also a candidate for the Lakers and Hornets.
Jazz CEO Danny Ainge and his front office underwent an extensive coaching search. Adrian Wojnarowski reports the Jazz have actually offered the job to Hardy and the two sides are finalizing a five-year deal with Hardy becoming the youngest active HC in the NBA.
