Victor Wembanyama will not be wearing the ASVEL jersey in his last season in Europe before he makes the jump to the NBA through the 2023 NBA Draft.
According to L’Equipe, the 18-year-old big man is reported to have already activated the exit clause on his contract with the French league champions.
The previous days, ASVEL president Tony Parker revealed he wanted to build his team around Wembanyama ahead of the 2022-23 season.
The projected No.1 pick went through many ups and downs through the season and missed the last part of the French league playoffs due to injury.
There are several teams that are interested in getting Wembanyama, L’Equipe reports. EuroCup club Paris Basketball appears to be one of the most “serious candidates”.
Wembanyama averaged 9.4 points on 47 percent shooting from the field along with 5.1 rebounds in 18 minutes per game.
He appeared in 13 EuroLeague games and had averages of 6.5 points and 3.8 rebounds per contest while shooting 37 percent on two-pointers.
