Nando De Colo joined ASVEL Villeurbanne on a two-year deal, the French league champions announced Thursday. The veteran French guard is back playing in his home country for the first time after he began his career with Cholet in 2006-2009.

ASVEL began its moves for the next season in a very impressive note after reportedly losing projected No.1 pick of the 2023 NBA Draft Victor Wenbanyama. The club also saw top scorers Elie Ekobo and Chris Jones leaving this summer.

De Colo spent the last three seasons of his career with Fenerbahce. He departed from the Turkish giants after completing the season with a title over Efes in the Turkish BSL. He averaged 15.0 points, 4.7 assists and 2.3 rebounds in the domestic league.

Furthermore, he was also a huge contributor for Fener in the EuroLeague, despite the fact that the Turkish club did not make it to the postseason. De Colo averaged 11.9 points, 3.8 assists and 2.2 rebounds in 21 games in the EuroLeague last season.

The veteran guard previously played for CSKA Moscow winning the EuroLeague title in the process back in 2016 and 2019. He was the 2016 Final-4 MVP leading CSKA to glory for the first time in many years.

“Thank you Nando De Colo for believing in our project,” ASVEL president Tony Parker tweeted, while the Los Angeles Clippers and NBA star Nic Batum also reacted to the news after ASVEL announced the signing of De Colo.
