NBA rumors: Lakers, Nets engage in trade talks for Kyrie Irving

The Los Angeles Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets have engaged in trade talks for Kyrie Irving. This is what Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reports, noting that the two sides are working on a blockbuster deal centered around Irving and Russell Westbrook.

If the two teams reach an agreement, Russell Westbrook will move to Brooklyn, while Los Angeles will receive Kyrie Irving.

The Nets want more players to be included in the deal and are willing to send Joe Harris to the Lakers too. Harris, who is recovering from a left ankle surgery, has two years and $38.6M left on his current contract.

On the other hand, the 17-time NBA champions want to acquire Seth Curry, who has entered the final year of his current contract, worth $8.6M.

As Haynes writes, the talks between the two sides are preliminary and the Nets will take their time to examine their options before finalizing the deal.

Kyrie Irving and Russell Westbrook recently picked up their player options, worth $36.5M and $47.4M, respectively.
