Rookie Keegan Murray impresses in first appearance with Sacramento

The No.4 overall pick of the 2022 NBA Draft Keegan Murray had a strong start in his career with the Sacramento Kings as he dominated in the first Summer League game of his team.

Murray attacked efficiently and left the crowd in awe with his ability to attack and be a three-level scorer in an 86-68 victory over the Golden State.

“My goal going in was, obviously, get the win first,” Murray said. “I knew that was a big thing for me, and just play my game. Don’t do anything out of the ordinary. Don’t do anything I was uncomfortable doing,” said Murray.

The Kings’ rookie was dominant, finishing with 26 points and eight rebounds in just over 28 minutes. He made 10 of 14 shots from the floor and four of five shots from deep. The forward receive plenty of praise in the social media.

The Kings selected Murray with the fourth overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft out of Iowa, and he was considered one of the best forwards in this year’s class. Obviously, Sacramento may have something in the Iowa product.

“I saw the first shot go in and that kind of sparked my confidence a little bit,” Murray said. “That obviously helps a lot, especially on your first professional action, so that first shot went in and I just felt comfortable the rest of the way.”

The forward seemed comfortable in the first game of his professional career, and the Kings hope to have found a franchise player to build around alongside the All-Star play of Domantas Sabonis and the explosiveness of point guard D’Aaron Fox.
