ALBA Berlin’s head coach Israel Gonzalez extended his stay with the team for three more seasons, per the club’s official report. Taking over as the Alba Berlin head coach for the 2021-22 season from Aitor Reneses, Gonzalez led the team to two domestic titles.

ALBA won the 2022 BBL Pokal and beat Bayern Munich in the German BBL finals to win the title for the third-year in the row. ALBA also earned a 12-16 record to fall a couple of wins short of clinching a berth in the Playoffs of the EuroLeague last season.

With Gonzalez on the helm for three more seasons, the German giants can continue building their team for the 2022-23 season. They already re-signed 24-year-old German power forward Tim Schneider to a three-year contract extension.

More moves are expected for the BBL champions in the next few weeks. The only player rumored to leave for now is big man Oscar Da Silva, who has attracted interest from FC Barcelona, per multiple reports.
