All 60 teams that will compete in the Second Round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Qualifiers are now known following the completion of the third window.
46 of the teams that have advanced to the Second Round also played in the Second Round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Qualifiers.
Additionally, nine teams have made it to the Second Round for the first time after being eliminated from the First Round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Qualifiers.
Those teams are DR Congo and Guinea from the African Qualifiers; Belgium, Great Britain, Sweden, and Iceland from the European Qualifiers; India from the Asian Qualifiers; and Bahamas and Colombia from the Americas Qualifiers.
Four teams have made it to the Second Round in their first ever appearance in the World Cup Qualifiers which are Cape Verde and South Sudan from the African Qualifiers; and Saudi Arabia and Bahrain from the Asian Qualifiers.
Among the teams that will be playing in the Second Round, only five remain undefeated including Canada, Cote d’Ivoire, South Sudan, Australia, and New Zealand. These teams will have a slight advantage as all First Round results carry over to Second Round. None of the teams in the European Qualifiers enter the Second Round undefeated.
All results from all games in the First Round – including those against teams that were eliminated – carry over to the Second Round.
Here is how the Second Round shapes up:

The three highest-placed teams (a total of six teams) from each group in addition to the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 co-hosts, Philippines and Japan, shall qualify to the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.
Indonesia’s guaranteed spot as co-host of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 is subject to reaching the Quarter-Finals of the FIBA Asia Cup 2022.
Should Indonesia also be guaranteed a spot, then only the best third placed team would qualify in addition to the top two highest-placed teams from each group (a total of five teams).

The three highest-placed teams from each group (a total of twelve teams) shall qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.
The Second Round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Qualifiers will consist of three windows taking place in August and November 2022 and February 2023.
The qualified teams will join Japan and Philippines to complete the 32-team playing field at the FIBA Basketball World Cup, taking place from August 25 – September 10, 2023.
