The Toronto Raptors are expected to be among the suitors for Kevin Durant this season. The Raptors were singled out as the team which can make an offer close to the Brooklyn Nets’ standards.
The Nets are patiently waiting things to play out and they will accept an offer, which include star players and draft compensation. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Toronto is the only team that can match that price without the involvement of a third party.
Recent reports suggest that there’s very little traction on potential Durant and Kyrie Irving trades from the Brooklyn Nets. When looking at the Durant aspect, it’s primarily due to Brooklyn’s sky-high asking price in trade talks.
As a potential trade package goes for the Raptors, the deal most certainly would include All-Star forward Pascal Siakam heading to Brooklyn. From there, the Nets would demand either wing Gary Trent Jr. or the up-and-coming OG Anunoby if Scottie Barnes is out of the equation.
In addition, the Canadians also has their full slate of first-round picks to offer up in a trade. That could include unprotected selections in 2023, 2025, 2027 and 2029. The Nets are expected to demand a king’s ransom for Durant.
Gobert’s trade to Minnesota was an indicator of what a team with an asset like Durant, who is one of the best players in the league, could demand. The Nets’ latest moves indicate they are going to remain competitive and not go on a full-fledged rebuild.
