The San Antonio Spurs could emerge as a third team in a deal that would send Kyrie Irving to the Los Angeles Lakers.

It seems the Lakers have significant interest to land the multiple time All-Star and reunite him with LeBron James. At the same time, they likely don’t have the ideal package to get the job done.

Any deal for Kyrie Irving would include Russell Westbrook and draft picks, but this may not be enough for the Brooklyn Nets.

As a result, they may need a third team to get involved and facilitate a deal and that team could be the San Antonio Spurs, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

“A team like the Spurs could be a facilitator in a Westbrook/Kyrie deal. You’d have to incentivize them at a pretty high level.

That unwillingness of the Lakers to incentivize w/ multiple picks is still part of the reason that hasn’t gone anywhere yet. That could change,” Wojnarowski reports.

At the moment, it is unclear what direction the Lakers will head to and whether they will go all-in to bring Kyrie Irving to Los Angeles. Irving recently opted into the final year of his contract, worth $36.5M.
