LeBron James puts pressure to Lakers to trade for Kyrie Irving

LeBron James wants to reunite with Kyrie Irving and is putting pressure to the Los Angeles Lakers to make the trade happen.

According to Jovan Buha of The Athletic, the four-time NBA champion is working behind the scenes to get a deal done with the Brooklyn Nets, as Irving also wants to join the franchise. The 7-time All-Star is on an expiring contract, after picking up his $36,9M player option.

“Kyrie, I know he wants to be in LA. I know LeBron wants him in LA. He’s been behind the scenes putting some pressure,” Buha reported.

He also added that some Lakers executives don’t see eye-to-eye with LeBron James and prefer a Myles Turner/Buddy Hield deal.

“I think there’s a slight divide right now where LeBron wants Kyrie and some people internally might prefer a Myles Turner/Buddy Hield type deal,” Buha said.

It will not be easy for the Lakers to land Irving because of the Nets’ trade demands. As a result, it is very likely a third team will get involved as a facilitator, with the Houston Rockets and the San Antonio Spurs showing interest to become part of the deal.
