Draymond Green confirms Nemanja Bjelica is heading to Fenerbahce

Golden State Warriors veteran leader Draymond Green confirmed Nemanja Bjelica will return to Europe and play for the Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce. The 2022 NBA champion talked about “Beli” in his podcast, “The Draymond Green Show”.

“Another loss that was huge for us was losing Beli, Nemanja Bjelica. He is headed back to Fenerbahce in Turkey. I’m a little hurt by this one,” Green said (h/t NBC Sports Bay Area).

“But for Beli, I think this was more of a family move than necessarily a business move. Beli has two young children and to be closer to his family … it sucks for us, it definitely sucks for us”.

When the Warriors began their offseason, they wanted to retain as many of their role players as possible. They re-signed center Kevon Looney but ended up losing a lot of valuable talent off the bench, including Bjelica.

Gary Payton II also signed to another team (Blazers), while Otto Porter joined the Toronto Raptors this offseason. Both players were one of the key figures in the Warriors’ 2022 NBA championship run.

Bjelica was also crucial during the NBA Finals series vs the Boston Celtics playing at a high level on both ends of the floor. In Fenerbache, he will play under a great coach, as the former CSKA Moscow HC Dimitris Itoudis will lead from the bench the team next season.
