FC Barcelona acquired the rights of Nikola Kalinic from Valencia Basket if the Serbian guard decides to return to ACB. Amidst rumors about Barca signing Kalinic, this move seems to be the first step towards this direction.
According to Barca’s official announcement, it “acquires the sports rights of the Serbian player in the Endesa League in the event that he returns to the ACB competitions”. The price asked for Kalinic’s rights reportedly was at 500,000 euros.
Multiple reports suggest the two sides are close to a deal and Kalinic will soon become part of the Catalans’ club. Kalinic played for Crvena Zvezda the past season while he defended the colors of Valencia Basket for the 2020-21 campaign.
A veteran wing in the EuroLeague, Kalinic will add toughness and versatility if Barca eventually sign him. Barcelona will be his fourth EuroLeague club in his career after Fenerbahce (2015-2020), Valencia and Crvena Zvezda.
Kalinic spent last season with Crvena Zvezda, averaging 12.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 32 EuroLeague games.
