Damian Lillard officially signed his two-year supermax contract extension with the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday, worth $122M.

Thanks to the new contract, the superstar guard will remain with the franchise until the end of the 2026/27 season, with the final year being a player option.

After signing the extension, Lillard spoke with media about remaining with the franchise long-term and his goal for next season.

“I don’t think you earn something like this just by going out there and scoring a bunch of points. Something that’s missing in our league is the character and the passion. And I’m someone that’s embraced that. Not pretending to embrace that, that’s just who I am.

I’m as anxious as I’ve ever been to get out there and make something happen. I’m in a great space mentally and physically.

I’m gonna come into this season comfortable and ready to do me, and do me at the highest level,” Damian Lillard said, via Blazers’ beat writer Sean Highkin.

The 31-year-old guard appeared in only 29 games last year after a season-ending abdominal surgery. He averaged 24 points and 7.3 assists in 36.4 minutes on the floor.

Damian Lillard admitted, though, that this long break and his recovery from the abdominal surgery will make him a better player. The Blazers aim to return to playoff contention next season.
