Pau Gasol shared his thoughts on the decision of Real Madrid to part ways with head coach Pablo Laso after 11 years.

The NBA legend said he was surprised by the “Whites” decision and how they treated Laso. “The decision of Real Madrid has surprised me a lot. Real are free to do what they consider but the way the long-term coach has been treated is surprising,” Gasol said, via AS.

After suffering a heart attack on June 5, Pablo Laso wanted to return to the team’s bench ahead of the new season. Yet, the “Whites” didn’t want to take the risk and wanted him to sit out the season for health reasons. Laso refused to do so and the two sides parted ways.

Pablo Laso spent 11 seasons with Real Madrid, winning two EuroLeague championships (2015, 2018), six Spanish ACB championships (2013, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2022), six Spanish Cups (2012, 2014 – 2017, 2020) and six Spanish SuperCup titles (2012, 2013, 2014, 2018, 2019, 2020).
