FC Barcelona signing promising big Oscar Da Silva

FC Barcelona bolstered its front court by signing big man Oscar Da Silva, the team announced. The German forward center is signing a three-year deal with the Catalans after one season in the EuroLeague with the German BBL champions ALBA Berlin.

After four seasons in Stanford University, Da Silva returned to Germany and played for MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg in the last part of the 2020-21 season. He ended up averaging 6.6 points and 3.2 rebounds in 13 minutes through 17 games with MHP Riesen.

With his great performances in the upper level of the German Basketball League, he attracted the interest from ALBA Berlin, and the BBL champions signed him at the start of the 2021-22 campaign.

In the team of the German capital, and in his first season playing in the EuroLeague, Da Silva averaged 8.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 10.2 points in 18 minutes. In the domestic competition, Da Silva has played 41 games.

He averaged 11.3 points and 5.2 rebounds between the regular season and the playoffs helping the team to win the German BBL and the domestic cup. He is the third signing of the offseason for FC Barcelona, that also added Tomas Satoransky and Jan Vesely.

FC Barcelona restructured its front line with the addition of Jan Vesely and Oscar da Silva as they parted ways with Rolands Smits and Brandon Davies. The Catalans are coming off a disappointing ending in the 2021-22 season after losing in the ACB Finals.
