Panathinaikos adds Derrick Williams on a one-year deal

Panathinaikos completed its second signing of the day by adding forward Derrick Williams, as the club announced earlier. The club has announced the signing after parting ways with forward Ioannis Papapetrou.

After a small stint in China, Williams became a regular contributor in the EuroLeague playing for Bayern Munich, Fenebahce, Valencia and Maccabi Tel Aviv the last four seasons. He has career averages of 10.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.

Williams was picked second in the 2011 NBA draft by Minnesota, right after Kyrie Irving was selected first. He played three years for the Timberwolves and then for Sacramento, New York, Miami and Cleveland.

He spent the previous campaign with Maccabi Tel Aviv and had an average of 9.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.9 assists across 35 EuroLeague games. Maccabi made the postseason by making an impressive winning record in the last two months of the regular season.
