The Golden State Warriors have had a quiet offseason electing to reload their 2022 NBA championship roster and give bigger roles to the younger members of the squad. However, they are keeping a roster spot open for a special reason.

According to Anthony Slater, the Dubs are still waiting to see what Andre Iguodala will do regarding his career. The article states that Iguodala is still contemplating his decision to play in what will be his 19th year in the league next season.

At 38 years old, the seasoned Warriors vet struggled to stay healthy as nagging injuries kept him out for a majority of the season. In 31 regular season games, he averaged 4.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists in 19.5 minutes per game.

Even without playing Iguodala can be a valuable member of the Warriors as they are going to try to defend their title next season. Throughout the season, Iguodala could frequently be seen coaching up the team’s younger players.

A huge part of what the Warriors build the last eight years, whether he decides to play or not, Iguodala might have a place in the organization as an asset for playes’ development or even as part of Steve Kerr’s coaching staff.

Since veteran leadership is key to any winning team, it makes sense that Golden State is keeping a roster spot open for the longtime Warrior.
