Bucks GM says Joe Ingles is expected to be back in December

The Milwaukee Bucks added veteran forward Joe Ingles this offseason. The former Jazz forward underwent surgery to repair the torn ACL in his left knee in February and his timeline for a return could be around December, per Bucks’ GM.

“Joe can really help us in the regular season and deep into the playoffs and can fit with us and maybe have a future with us going forward beyond this year,” Horst said to Eric Nehm of The Athletic.

“So we’re not going to just rush him on the floor just to get a couple extra regular season games out of him.

It’s a bigger-picture play with Joe, so that’ll factor in also. I think we’ll take a pretty patient approach,” Horst continued (h/t to hoopsrumors.net).

Ingles was traded to Portland mid-season but never played a game for them. He joined Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks this summer with the hope of helping the team deep in the regular season and the playoffs.

Ingles was the lone new addition to the Bucks’ roster as the team have kept Jevon Carter, Serge Ibaka, Wes Matthews and Bobby Portis. He averaged 7.2 points, 3.5 assists and 2.9 rebounds through 45 games.

Ingles (6-8, 220) has spent all eight seasons of his NBA career with the Utah Jazz where he appeared in 590 games (313 starts) and is the franchise’s all-time leader in three-pointers made with 1,071.

He was the runner-up for the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year Award following the 2020-21 season. The Australian forward will thrive in a Giannis Antetokounmpo-led team, while he will be a great option in the pick-n-roll with the Bucks’ superstar player.
