Mathias Lessort remains with Partizan for one more season

Partizan’s bigman Mathias Lessort signed a one-year contract extension, the team announced Monday. Lessort, 26, joined Partizan last December. Appearing in the ABA League and the EuroCup, Lessort quickly became an important part of the team.

He averaged 13.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 10 EuroCup games, while he helped his team reach the ABA Finals averaging 10.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.9 blocks, and 0.7 steals per game.

The French international center started the previous season at Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv but departed upon the expiration of the short-term contract. He has 57 EuroLeague games under his belt with Crvena Zvezda, Bayern Munich and Maccabi.

He will add to his total with Partizan as the Serbian powerhouse will re-appear in the top-tier European competition again after many years of absence. A youth product of Elan Chalon, he turned pro with the French club in 2014.

Other former teams are Nanterre 92, Unicaja, and AS Monaco. He was selected in the second round of the 2017 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, while his draft rights are currently held by the New York Knicks.
