AS Monaco kept Yakuba Ouattara in the roster for the seventh season of his career, the club stated earlier today. The Ghana-born player signed a one-year extension with the Roca Team becoming the third player to extend his stay this offseason.
A two-way presence for Monaco, the French national team member improved his shooting last season, stretching the floor for the likes of Mike James, Donta Hall and others. An infinite well of energy, Ouattara was a regular in the team’s starting five.

“I chose to stay in Monaco first and foremost because it’s home. For me, I feel at home in this club where I grew up and where I know everyone. I have always had a special relationship with the staff, and the fans of course,” Ouattara said.
Ouattara, 30, returned to the Roca Team for a third stint last July. Besides spending the 2020-21 season in Real Betis and 2017-18 in the Long Island Nets. Last season, he averaged 4.0 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 0.3 assists per game in the EuroLeague.
“This decision is also explained by the fact of having an important role as well, and of always going in search of excellence,” said the veteran swingman.
“The club has always had big ambitions, and every year it shows in the results. It’s something that is rooted in me, and we agree a lot on that.”
