Heat Bam Adebayo on trade rumors: “I can’t control that”

The Miami Heat are involved in several offseason storylines this summer, with the South Florida franchise interested in trading for Kevin Durant or Donovan Mitchell. Bam Adebayo spoke on the trade rumors involving him as a potential part of a blockbuster deal.

“It is what it is, control what you can control,” Adebayo said Thursday, per Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel (h/t Bleacher Report).  “Obviously, it’s an opportunity for something, but in my opinion, control what you can control. I can’t control that.”

The 25-year-old set a career high with 19.1 points per game this past season, adding 10.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.4 steals per game. He was also named second-team All-Defense for the third year in a row

The Heat have been linked to a move for Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant, who reportedly named Miami and the Phoenix Suns as his preferred trade destinations. His $30.4-million salary in 2022-23 also helps match numbers in any deal for Durant.

However, a potential trade for Durant could be proved tricky for Miami, as teams can’t roster more than one player on a designated rookie extension acquired via trade. That means the Nets will have to part ways with Ben Simmons.

Miami has also been rumored to be interested in Utah Jazz star guard Donovan Mitchell, according to Winderman. It’s unclear if the Heat would consider parting with Adebayo in such a deal.
