NBA rumors: Lakers in talks with Carmelo Anthony for a new deal

The Los Angeles Lakers aim to bring Carmelo Anthony back to the team and are in talks with the multiple-time All-Star.

This is what Evan Massey of HoopAnalysis says, adding that the two sides had ‘productive’ talks, but there are also a couple of teams interested in the veteran forward.

Carmelo Anthony was one of the best Lakers players last season, averaging 13.3 points and 4.2 rebounds in 67 regular season games. Despite his decent performance, he couldn’t lead the 17-time NBA champions to the playoffs.

The Lakers seek to make more than one offseason deals, aiming to return to title contention next year. So far, they have been in talks with the Brooklyn Nets for Kyrie Irving and have re-engaged talks with the Indiana Pacers for Buddy Hield.

Hield spent the previous season between the Sacramento Kings and Indiana Pacers. He averaged 15.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 81 games. The 30-year-old guard has two years and $39M left on his current contract.
