Karl-Anthony Towns aims to create a superstar duo with Minnesota Timberwolves teammate Anthony Edwards.

Towns recently joined NBA Today and said his goal is for him and Edwards to play at such a high level that they will be compared to the legendary duo of Shaquille O’Neal and the late Kobe Bryant.

O’Neal and Bryant created one of the most dominant duos in NBA history and led the Los Angeles Lakers to three straight titles (2000-2002).

For their part, Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards helped the Timberwolves reach the playoffs last season and now aim to have a championship run next season, following the Rudy Gobert trade.

“It’s go time. The [Rudy Gobert] trade happens. There’s no more time. There are no more excuses. We’ve got to get it done now. It’s championship now or bust. Got to go out there and get the job done.

I expect a lot of winning for sure. I’m not up here just blowing smoke. I really want to try and bring a championship to Minnesota.

I think that Rudy adds a huge component to that. He’s going to be a massive part of us being a championship team,” Karl-Anthony Towns told media on Friday.

With the addition of Gobert, Minnesota has its own Big Four in the French big man, Towns, Edwards and D’Angelo Russell.
