Three teams discussed a possible trade for the Los Angeles Lakers superstar Russell Westbrook, Shams Charania reports. The LA franchise is searching for a trade partner despite the fact that the team seems poised to start the season with the former MVP.

The Utah Jazz and New York Knicks joined the Indiana Pacers as teams that have discussed acquiring Westbrook. The Lakers reportedly discussed with the Pacers about trading Westbrook for Myles Turner and Buddy Hield.

The deal fell apart when Indiana asked for multiple first-round picks. Westbrook was also reportedly linked to the Brooklyn Nets earlier in the offseason in a move for Kyrie Irving.

The nine-time All-Star is slated to make $47 million for the 2022-23 season before becoming an unrestricted free agent next offseason. He had a down season with the Lakers last season as the Purple and Gold missed the playoffs after finishing the season with a 33-49 record.

Westbrook averaged 18.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.1 assists in 78 games in his first campaign with the Lakers in 2021-22.
