Celtics have the package to trade for Nets’ superstar Kevin Durant

The Boston Celtics aim to trade for Brooklyn Nets’ superstar Kevin Durant and seem to be the favorite to do so.

According to NBA Insider Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Celtics have the assets to agree to a deal with Brooklyn and possess a ‘serious threat’ to trade for Durant.

“Boston is a serious threat to go get Kevin Durant because they have the pieces.. probably more so than any other team,” Charania told Pat McAfee on the Pat McAfee Show.

Boston’s first offer to Brooklyn included Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and a draft pick. But, the Nets denied the offer and wanted Marcus Smart to be included in the deal. However, the Celtics don’t seem willing to agree. Talks between the two sides remain ongoing.

Jaylen Brown, who has two years and $55,2M remaining in his current deal with the Celtics, averaged 23.6 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 66 games.

For his part, Kevin Durant asked for a trade on June 30, while he still has has four years and $194.2M left on his current contract.
