“I am very happy about my move to Berlin. I’ve only heard good things about the club and the city from former ALBA players. So, I can’t wait to get down there, hit the basketball court and experience the city’s diverse culture,” Wetzel said.
Wetzell made his first steps as a professional basketball player in the Australian first division with the South East Melbourne Phoenix. Prior to joining Baskonia, He was a member of the New Zealand Breakers.
“With his great mobility, he brings a skill set that suits us well and that we want to develop further. He definitely has the potential to implement our fast style of play and defend in a variety of ways,” ALBA’s sport director Himar Ojeda said on Wetzel.
He averaged 17.7 points and 8.2 rebounds in 22 matches in the NBL League. In April of 2022, Wetzell moved to ACB and Baskonia.
