Barcelona announced the signing of center Mike Tobey for the 2022-23 season. Tobey, 2.13m and 27 years old, arrives as a free agent after the end of his contract with Valencia Basket.

Per EuroLeague.net:

FC Barcelona has bolstered its frontcourt options by signing Mike Tobey on a one-year deal, the club confirmed on Tuesday. Tobey (2.13 meters, 27 years old) arrives from Valencia Basket, where he averaged 10.3 points and 5.7 rebounds in 16 7DAYS EuroCup matches last season.

Across his two seasons in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague with Valencia, which came in 2019-20 and 2020-21, he averaged 9.1 points and 4.7 rebounds in 54 matches, although he only started 11 of those games. His only other season in European competition came in 2018-19, his first year back at Valencia, as he featured in 22 games in the club’s EuroCup-winning campaign.

Tobey spent four years at the University of Virginia before beginning his professional career with Greensboro of the G League in the 2016-17 season. He briefly played for Charlotte of the NBA in 2017, but he saw out the remainder of that campaign with Valencia, which went on to win the Spanish League title. The following season saw Tobey join Iberostar Tenerife of Spain, and since 2018 he has played for Valencia.
