The New Orleans Pelicans are in a win-now situation and they could be inquiring about Kevin Durant, who demanded a trade four weeks ago. New Orleans was often speculated to be among teams that can offer a worthy package for the Nets’ superstar.
The New Orleans franchise can put together a trade package based around All-Star Brandon Ingram and maybe with Devonte’ Graham and multiple picks. However, there is no interest in the Pelicans to give up Ingram in a trade for Durant. (h/t NBC Sports)
“You wondered if Brandon Ingram of the Pelicans could be a guy that’s put on the table? To this point, I’ve heard he’s not been put on the table. I also didn’t see Durant necessarily wanting to go to New Orleans as well,” reports Michael Scotto on the Hoopshype podcast.
The Nets tried to jumpstart rumors the last few days after a relatively quiet two-week stint by leaking that the Boston Celtics made an offer to Brooklyn for Durant based around All-Star Jaylen Brown.
Durant made clear that his preferred destination are Phoenix and Miami, but the both franchise do not have enough to make a deal for Durant as of now. In any case, New Orleans is a long shot in Durant sweepstakes.
Even if the Nets agree to a deal with the Pelicans, Durant might not want to play in New Orleans. New Orleans seems to be leaning toward keeping their roster intact if Ingram is unavailable.
