Several NBA and EuroLeague stars will participate in the 2022 FIBA EuroBasket in September (1-18).

Most participating national teams will have more than one NBA players on their rosters, while some of the league’s top stars will compete in the tournament.

Here we present the three NBA superstars that will headline FIBA EuroBasket and are expected to fight for the gold medal.

Giannis Antetokounmpo

The “Greek Freak” returns to the national team of Greece for the first time since the 2019 Basketball World Cup and has his sights set on bringing the squad back to the top after 13 years.

Antetokounmpo headlines the roster and wants to win his first title with the Greeks in a major FIBA tournament.

The two-time NBA MVP is the undisputed leader of a roster that includes several EuroLeague stars and is among the favorites for the title.

Last season, Giannis Antetokounmpo averaged 29.9 points, 11.6 rebounds and 5.8 assists for the Milwaukee Bucks, on 55.3% from the field.

Nikola Jokic

Like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic returns to a major FIBA tournament for the first time since the 2019 Basketball World Cup.

The Serbian center wants to help the national team turn things around, following its shocking elimination from the Olympic Games last summer.

The reigning two-time NBA MVP will be the team’s focal point on offense and headlines a Serbia squad that includes back-to-back EuroLeague Final Four MVP, Vasilije Micic.

Nikola Jokic dominated the NBA last season, averaging 27.1 points, 13.8 points and 7.9 assists. However, he couldn’t get past the opening round of the NBA playoffs with the Denver Nuggets after losing to the Golden State Warriors in five games (4-1).

It is worth mentioning that Jokic and Serbia will clash with Antetokounmpo and Greece in the opening game of the Second Round of the 2023 Basketball World Cup Qualifiers (August 25).

Luka Doncic

The superstar of the Dallas Mavericks aims to lead Slovenia to its second straight EuroBasket title. The Slovenians have one of the best squads in the competition and focus on successfully defending the title they won in 2017.

Doncic is coming off another stellar season in the NBA, averaging 28.4 points, 9.1 boards and 8.7 assists and helping the Mavs reach the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2011.

Like Serbia and Greece, Slovenia is among the favorites to go all the way, especially if Goran Dragic joins the team and reunites with Luka Doncic.

The 2022 FIBA EuroBasket will take place in September. The group stage will be played in four cities (Tbilisi, Cologne, Milano and Prague), while the knockout stage will take place in Berlin.

Hedgeout.net and Yiannis Bouranis will travel to Berlin to cover all the action from the final stage of the tournament.
