Olympiacos signs veteran Tarik Black

Olympiacos concluded its offseason additions with the signing of veteran center Tarik Black, the club announced Sunday. Black is coming off a strong season in the Turkish Basketball League with Bahcesehir Koleji.

He averaged 5.8 points and 2.4 rebounds in seven TBL games.  He also helped the team win the FIBA Europe Cup averaging 7.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists in five games in the competition.

The former Laker has moved to Europe in the summer of 2018, playing for two seasons with Maccabi Tel Aviv, then for Zenit before joining Bahcesehir for a few months last season.

He started the year signing with the Denver Nuggets but ended up playing in the NBA G-League with the team’s affiliate Grand Rapids Gold. He averaged 11.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 15 appearances.

During the past eight years, Black played for the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets before coming to Europe. He has played 220 NBA games during his career averaging 4.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per contest.

The 31-years old center is the seventh non-Greek player addition for Olympiacos, while only six are permitted in the Greek league. However, he will be eligible to play in the EuroLeague. He will remain with the “Reds” for one season, as the club announced.
