Slovenia head coach on Goran Dragic playing in EuroBasket: “I have a very good feeling about him now”

The head coach of Slovenia, Aleksander Sekulic, once again addressed the status of Goran Dragic for the upcoming EuroBasket.

Goran Dragic hasn’t made a final decision on his participation yet, but Sekulic believes he will join the national team eventually.

“The wish is for an even better Slovenia. I believe this is realistic. If Goran Dragic is also with us, these ideas will have an even firmer foundation. I have a very good feeling about him now.

He is the vocal leader. Also, a leader who leads by example. He always trains at full strength. The others simply have to follow him. In the match, experience comes to the forefront.

And, of course, the quality of his play. These are things that cannot be bought or created,” the head coach of Slovenia said in an interview with SportKlub Slovenija.

The addition of Goran Dagic to the roster would further bolster the team’s chances to successfully defend its EuroBasket title. However, the veteran guard will still need a few more days to make a decision.

For the time being, the Slovenians have already started preparing for September’s tournament (1-18). Superstar guard Luka Doncic is set to join the training camp within the next couple of weeks.

Slovenia will travel to Cologne in late August and will take on Lithuania, Hungary, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Germany, and France in the group stage of the EuroBasket (Group B).
